Modern Greek Lessons
How it works
The courses available begin from the A1 level and go up to C2. After an initial one-to-one chat, you will select a professional tutor who will work with you. We will place you in one of the 6 levels according to the level you are at. The courses are designed to cover all of the requirements for the Certificate of Attainment in Modern Greek (State Recognized Diploma) which you can work towards if you want to. By the term general Greek, we mean speaking, listening, writing and reading all of which we will cover in our classes. Choose your course below and find out what you will be able to do as far as reading, listening, speaking and writing are concerned.
LEVELS OF GREEK LANGUAGE KNOWLEDGE
The courses of the Greek Language Teaching Center are divided into levels of language knowledge in accordance with those of the Council of Europe. Once students have completed their course at any given level (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2), they will be in a position to understand, write and speak at the level they have reached by the end of the lessons.
The final level reached by the students depends on the amount of effort the student has put in and how much time was spent preparing and studying for the lessons.
A1 is the first level of language proficiency, and is considered a basic level in which the learner has just started to learn the language. At this level, the learner will be able to understand and use simple everyday expressions and can introduce him or herself to others.
A2 is the second level of language proficiency and is considered an elementary level. At this level, the learner will be able to understand and use basic phrases and sentences related to everyday topics, such as family, hobbies, and work.
B1 is the third level of language proficiency and is considered a lower-intermediate level. At this level, the learner will be able to understand and use the language to communicate in simple everyday situations and can engage in basic conversations.
B2 is the fourth level of language proficiency and is considered an upper-intermediate level. At this level, the learner will be able to understand and use the language to communicate in more complex everyday situations and can engage in conversations on a variety of topics.
C1 is the fifth level of language proficiency and is considered an advanced level. At this level, the learner will be able to understand and use the language to communicate effectively and fluently in a wide range of situations and can engage in conversations on a variety of topics.
C2 is the sixth level of language proficiency and is considered a mastery level. At this level, the learner will be able to understand and use the language to communicate effectively and fluently in a wide range of situations and can engage in conversations on a variety of topics with native-like fluency.
